Our first ever Tour of Timor!

Tomorrow Chris Dureau and Ursula Harrison along with 7 other intrepid travellers will embark on a two week tour of Timor. The tour is run in conjunction with Timor Adventures, and will involve three days in Dili, one week in the Baucau district staying at various villages, and finally some reflection time on Atauro (it’s a tough life!). The focus of the tour will be on community centres, as Timorese village leaders have expressed interest in customising our model of neighbourhood houses to their needs. It will be a great coming together of friendship groups from the district of Baucau, as members from the friends of Venilale, Vermasse and Bagia will join us. It’s also a ‘trans-Tasman’ tour with a Kiwi coming along too! Safe travels and we look forward to the report back.

Baucau music festival

The Friends of Baucau proudly supports the Baucau Music and Art Festival.Together with our partner in Baucau, UNAP, the Friends of Baucau has been able to provide assistance to 8 of the 11 villages in the Baucau sub-district to participate in the Music Festival.Apart from being rained out on the Saturday morning the festival proceeded with great success. Ego Lemos and his band performed as did B2M from the Tiwi Islands and Galaxy and Koro Loriko, a community choir formed with the assistance of the Boîte. Well done everyone.
